New Year New Stories: 2025

Starting the Yearly Challenge

A few years a go I purposed a challenge: New Year New Starts. The goal is to start three new stories. Could be something you were mulling over in the shower, could be something you’ve plotted out, or it could be something invented for the challenge. The challenge was the time period: Between Christmas and New Years, write the initial hook. Longer than an opening paragraph yet not an entire chapter. Enough to hook the audience, but not enough to bog you down. At New Years push the big (hopefully red) publish button. We all then get to read what was purposed and hopefully have something to show off our writing proficiency. Everyone gets to see what everyone can do and those of you who don’t feel like you have or have much to self promote with, you now have are three new pieces.

This year I want to bring it back. Although with a few adjustments, hence the change in name. A the timer will start with this post and end on Feb 1st. Now for those who are aware of time-zones I will be using mine, and you can use yours. Since I don’t want to cut anyone short by pushing a standardized timezone, this is getting published a bit early (New Years GMT should my math be correct). Regardless get going, you should have about four weeks to write the start of three stories. Go, get on it. I am looking forward to what you create.

Spread the challenge and let’s get more people creating stories.
