I'm in a River
An announcement
I’ve been published. As of today the In The Midst Of A River is launching “officially”. A few days ago, on the 7th it was quietly pushed to Amazon. As of tonight it is launching. I’ll say it now and say it again: For the next 8 days the book is half off. You can get four amazing writers, and myself; for the low price of $6. It will be $12 after the 20th of February 2025. With that out of the way let’s take a look at the book.

The blurb on the back I think sums up this collection rather expertly.
A talented team of writers have come together to produce ten short stories of speculative fiction for your enjoyment. Interstellar war, devious politics, espionage, crime, and even some bucolic peace, with a little romance on the side.
**
All of these united by the theme of In the Midst of a River. It could be a river on Earth or another planet; perhaps a river of stars. Or even a river of tears. These stories will touch your spirit, head, and heart. And make you stop and think, the next time you find yourself in the midst of a river.
There are ten stories in there, two from each of the five authors. Without spoiling too much, there is a good cross-section of the sci-fi genre, some more science fantasy than others. Each of us, took the very vague theme of “in a river” rather differently. Personally I think Page has the most interesting take on the subject. However the sole exception to the sci-fi genre would be Chasing a Letter which I previewed back in a rough state in November.
It has been cleaned up a fair bit; I will never claim to be much of a copy editor. Clayton is all but demanding a novel following Chasing a Letter. Which is to announce that I am planning out an anthology of short stories from Mr. Fluyamilan in the not to distant future. Please if you end up enjoying Chasing a Letter, let me know, and know there will be more from Mallvilt in the near future. My other story, Saturday Night, is something I’ve kept under wraps and in my opinion is better as a stand alone. It’s a fairly tight cyberpunk story following an old solider and pillar of the community rescuing a princess. Of course it’s never that simple. As I say in the read-in blurb:
Either you get the reference in the title, or you need better taste in music. That aside, this is a little dip into a cyberpunk world where Saturday Night’s all right.
If you have taste in music you probably will enjoy the story. If you don’t have taste in music I can only recommend punching “Saturday Night’s all right” into Spotify or YouTube. Elton John knew what he was doing with that one.
All in all this was quite a good time, and I look forward to writing more with this group. I may be looking to jump on another anthology or two in the near future. I believe Mr. Isenberg put it best:
"I consider it a great honor to have my stories appearing in the same anthology with talented individual like Clayton, Page, S. Donovan, and you. It's an extraordinary achievement, of which we can all be justly proud, and I think that any reader will find a great deal of enjoyment in the stories that Clayton has assembled and edited for In the Midst of a River." - Joseph Isenberg
All in all I hope you enjoy my first venture into the land of the published. If you wish to buy it, remember it is half off until 2/20/2025, click the following link: In The Midst of a River
Since this is ‘technically’ an advertisement I’d appreciate a share.
