From Grathew's Desk
Hello everyone!
For those of you who saw today's announcement over at substack and are coming to check me out welcome! Everyone else welcome back.
In the past two weeks I've been writing a lot, mostly Noah Bannon: Space Ranger I've now gotten into the rhythm of it and can just write. I do need to finish the notes for this first portion. In that same universe Thunderfall is on it's way. Also in Noah Bannon news I've been rated on Royal Road. I think a 3 is fair, although if you want to argue with it feel free to go over there and review it. I for one would love to hear what people think. I do think Royal Road is the best place to read it although I won't blame you for wanting to go else where. Those wanting a link: Noah Bannon: Space Ranger.
Project Ghost is underway and should be out before the end of next month. I'm having a lot of fun finishing out the plot map for the first book I'm thinking the first full week of April will be the 'due by date'. While I think I may be able to do it before then I want to get enough time to do some editing, and revisions if needed. As much as I like Noah Bannon: Space Ranger I will admit the first handful of chapters are a bit rough. I'd like this new project to be more polished.
This Wednesday we will be starting Culture or rather the bones of how culture should be handled in worldbuilding. It's a topic that could be a full year but there is enough that I want to reference so I want to get a full set of bones so that going forwards I can reference back to it to make the whole of Worldbuild Wednesday a better reference for the story teller who wants to worldbuild or the worldbuilder who wants to tell stories.
I am also working to put together a 'one stop shop' page where I will go over my process from the ground up on how I manage and build worlds. I think it may end up being one of my more useful tools. Although I'll have more details ready for the public when I have more of an idea than "Build better worldbuilding system". I am a fan and partly inspired by Worldbuilding Pasta, if you want the science for what I do; I'd recommend going checking it out.
Lastly if you like anything on the Gazette I've added a block of share buttons (should be at the bottom of everything going forward) please use them. I think they work as intended but I honestly need some end user testing. What do you think about how they look? I know this is the middle of the post but I want the world to see them.

In less gazette news I've been working on rebuilding my Salaminian map. The old is on the top the current state of the new is on the bottom.

Yes I am at the starting phase. I could do a 'land/water' pass but as is I want to cover the islands, and the oceans first. Then work on the larger landmasses. I want it to be detailed enough for a 4' x 6' world map on the global scale, as I want to put it up on my wall in some big format. Then I am going to go back to the areas I am going to be working in and start detailing it proper. Yes I know my edges don't line up quite right. I'm using Inkscape and it doesn't have a 'can mode' where the left right will connect to each other. I'll clean it up in a raster (probably once I upload it back into Blender for a sphere render) and then do a 'edge pass' back in the vector.
For those who are seeing terms and questioning what they mean, don't worry I have a render of what the final output will be:
Yes it's the old map, give me a while.
This is apart of my 'clean up the decade and a bit of notes and make something more rational out of it all' project centered on Slonminma. I have a lot of things scattered about, and lost some things like my old calendar time keeper. Thus I'm going to make it better, and by better read that as more complicated. I have no doubt my brothers and parents will rib me for my new even more complicated system. The spreadheets and python scripts will continue until the system achieves my goals. If you want an overview of the old one and what my goals are I'll bounce you back to substack as the nice math projection got eaten in the export. You can find it under: Human Years
As I reformat Slonminma I'm taking notes on what I'm doing and my justifications which will become the core of Grathew's Guide. Which will be a more in depth and paint by numbers, series that should be starting sooner rather than later. It will be 'premium' meaning you signed up people only, and eventually it may get put behind one of the early access tiers once I get back to that. I am thinking both audio and video formats along side the long form written version. Probably a 3 month cycle to get it out to you.
In some life of the author news. I finally got my 3D printer printing as I want again. Meaning a lot of my side projects to keep my tabletop miniatures safe are unstuck. Which is good, it does mean that I do have another pot to stir. Also after about a decade of service my keyboard gave up. Meaning I'll be on my way to break in a new one soon.
With that I'm off to get a new keyboard and I will see you all tomorrow with the next chapter of Noah Bannon.
